Arrival in Russia
We arrive at 8 am to the border zone on Friday 25th April. We are a little bit worried because some friends explained us it took 12 hours to get to Russia with their car. In fact, we can wait for hours because of the documents we need to fill, but for us, it took only one hour because there was anyone at this border.
The good surprise of the day is to see the cost of diesel at 0,66€/L. We drive then for many kilometres across birches and pines forests. There are still plenty of ponds but we don’t see any more storks.
As we advance to Saint-Petersburg, traffic jam becomes heavy. We need to be careful, because of the way of driving. We always drive with our camera in case of a problem and we noticed that many drivers had a camera in their car.
The countryside seems very poor compared to Saint-Petersburg where we can see top-of-the-range cars (Mustang, Toyota 150V8, Range Rover Evoque, Mercedes Classe G, BMW X5 et X6…).
It is very complicated to drive in the town because of their way of driving and conversely, it is a pleasure, because we can stop where we want, there is no charge for parking. We have a feeling of freedom and security which makes our visit very pleasant. The heavy traffic of this Friday evening encourages us to park and to sleep downtown in the car.
The days after, we visit the town at 8h30 am and discover the canals and the gorgeous buildings beneath a nice weather.
By approching the winter Palace who contains the fabulous museum « Ermitage », we see a motorbike meeting. Anthony take some pictures of some girls and one was very pretty.
